PA REBELS BASEBALL PROGRAM WELCOMES JERRY OAKES AS DIRECTOR OF RECRUITMENT

The PA Rebels Baseball Progam is proud to announce the addition of Jerry Oakes to its coaching staff as the Director of Recruitment. Oakes brings 15 years of experience coaching at the highest level in collegiate baseball, with stops at Coastal Carolina, University of Pittsburgh and Elon University. Oakes brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the club. Some

noteworthy accomplishments are developing 60 MLB draft selections (which 21 were in the top 10 rounds), 13 Big Leaguers, 10 All-Americans, 58 All-Conference honorees and 3 conference players of the year. His presence and resume will enhance the Rebels’ commitment to player development and pave the pathway to future success.

Jerry Oakes joins the PA Rebels after a successful tenure as part of Elon University's esteemed Baseball program, where he served as the Assistant Coach/Pitching Coach. During his time at Elon, Oakes pitching staff was at the forefront, setting new records on the mound in every pitching statistic category in the country. Oakes’ strategic approach contributed to the team’s impressive

performance, leading them to one of the top in the conference. Prior to his time at Elon University, Oakes made significant contributions as Recruiting Coordinator and Pitching Coach at the University of Pittsburgh. During his tenure at Pitt, the pitching staff went on to break numerous records in several categories, such as, most strikeouts, ERA, least number of walks and strikeout to

walk ratio.

Oakes went on to have 27 players drafted, which included 7 Big Leaguers. One of his most notable achievements was in the development of the highest draft pick in program history with the 21st overall pick, TJ Zeuch. Oakes’

commitment to excellence and emphasis on player development helped the Panthers achieve remarkable results and establish themselves as a formidable force in the ACC and collegiate baseball. Oakes joined the Panthers’ coaching staff after spending four years at perennial power Coastal Carolina where he worked with the pitchers and outfielders. During Oakes’ tenure, the Chanticleers dominated the Big South, winning all four regular season and conference tournament titles. Under Oakes’ tutelage,18 Coastal Carolina players were selected in the MLB draft, including seven in the first 10 rounds.

In his new role as the Director of Recruitment, Oakes will leverage his extensive experience and network of college coaches to help Pa Rebels Players gain college baseball opportunities. It is also expected some of the top baseball talent in the region may want to work with Oakes to become a better pitcher. The Pa Rebels are

also hopeful that with his keen eye for exceptional players and comprehensive understanding of the game, he will spearhead the club's efforts to attract promising athletes and continue to build competitive rosters.

Furthermore, Oakes will provide expert guidance and innovative training techniques to the club's pitchers, equipping them with the skills necessary to excel on the mound. "We are delighted to welcome Jerry Oakes to the PA Rebels Baseball Club," said John Fleming, President of the PA Rebels. "His remarkable track record in collegiate baseball, including his roles at Coastal, Elon University and the University of Pittsburgh, and his time in Professional Baseball, showcases his expertise and passion for player development and make him an exceptional addition to our coaching staff. Jerry's extensive knowledge and expertise will undoubtedly have a

profound impact on our players, as he helps shape them into well-rounded athletes both on and off the field. With his addition to our coaching staff, we are confident in our ability to attract top talent and provide our pitchers with the tools they need to succeed. Jerry's knowledge and coaching abilities will be invaluable assets to our club."

Jerry Oakes expressed his enthusiasm about joining the PA Rebels Baseball Club, stating, "I am thrilled to be a part of such a dynamic organization that prioritizes player development and success. Having had the opportunity to work with talented student-athletes at both Elon University and the University of Pittsburgh, I am excited to contribute to the growth and achievements of the PA Rebels. I look forward to working closely with the coaching staff, players, and the entire Rebels community."
